To be considered for a Letter or Pin in orchestra, students must file out form and compile a complete packet to be turned in no later than the last Friday in April.
The packet must contain:
1) The application form
2) All needed documentation (concert programs, dates, private lesson documentations, etc.)

Extracurricular Orchestra Activities
(Maximum points you may get from each of the following activities per year)
2 points for Regional Orchestra audition
5 points for Regional Orchestra participation
2 points for All-State Orchestra audition
6 points for All-State Orchestra participation
2 points for attending any music workshop/lecture/conference (violin, viola, cello, bass, harp)
2 points for participating in orchestra fundraising activities (gift card sale, car wash, school carnival, and extra music performance, etc. 2 points per event, 4 points per academic school year
4 points for participating regularly in outside school performing ensembles (Casteel Chamber Quartets, community orchestras, youth orchestras, H.S. musicals, summer music camps, etc.) 1 point per event with a total of 4 points each year
4 points for being a section leader/principle. 1 point per academic quarter
4 points for being orchestra council member (per academic school year)
4 points for attending concerts (university, community, or high school. Bring back the concert program. 1 point per concert, only 2 points can be earned from high school concerts, 4 points max per school year
8 points for giving private lessons to other students (must be approved by teacher – minimum of 6 ½ hour lessons with documentation of work. “Colt Fiddler Round-Up” 2 points per academic quarter
8 points for taking private lessons 4 points per semester, 8 points per academic year
2 points for participating in set-up crew for concerts and other orchestra events 1 point per semester
4 points for participating in a teacher assigned quartet, this includes attending at least 7 rehearsals a quarter (fully prepared) 1 point per quarter
4 points for participating in more than one orchestra (teacher approval required) 1 point per quarter

1) Be in Any Casteel Orchestra for a minimum of 1 year.
2) Have sustained an “A” average grade in orchestra classes for both semesters.
3) Be in 7th – 12th grade.
4) Have achieved 15 points for extracurricular orchestra activities.
Orchestra Pin Qualifications Policy
Students in any of the Casteel Orchestras may apply for an Orchestra Pin. Students must meet the following requirements:
1) Be in Any Casteel Orchestra for a minimum of 1 year.
2) Have sustained an “A” average grade in orchestra classes for both semesters.
3) Be in 7th – 12th grade.
4) Have achieved 15 points for extracurricular orchestra activities.
Casteel High School “Retroactive”
Orchestra Lettering Qualifications Policy
Students who were in Concert Orchestra during the 2015-2016 school year may apply for an Orchestra Letter for that year during the 2016 – 2017 school year.
Orchestra Lettering Qualifications Policy
