Auditions
Due to the loss of playing time because of COVID 19, I am changing up placements a bit for next year.
- Cadet Orchestra: All entering 7th graders will be placed in Cadet Orchestra. When we start back up, we will be able to hold auditions for those who wish to audition into the Jr. High Concert orchestra. What to practice? SCALES. Practice as many 2 octave scales as possible. If you wish to audition for a high school group, please see the information for those groups.
- Jr. High Concert Orchestra: All 8th graders will be automatically placed in this orchestra.
- High School Concert Orchestra: If you are already in Concert Orchestra (or going from 8th to 9th grade) you do not need to do anything. If you are in 7th or 8th grade and you wish to audition, you may do so with the following materials: Etude 3 (for your instrument - see below), 3 octave scales and arpeggios keys of b minor, A Major and F Major, plus a 1 minute solo (or part of a solo).
- High School Chamber Orchestra: If you are already in Chamber Orchestra you do not need to do anything. If you are in 7th or 8th grade and you wish to audition, you may do so with the following materials: Etude 4 (for your instrument - see below), 3 octave scales and arpeggios keys of f# minor, Bb Major and A Major, plus a 1 minute solo (or part of a solo). Harp will play the etude provided, plus audition on secondary instrument using concert orchestra guides. Currently we do not have placement opportunities for cellos and basses in Chamber Orchestra. If you play one of those instruments, please feel free to audition and if we end up with a space, your audition will be ready to review first.
